Abstract

National legislative politics presents an interesting power dynamic relating to party members. This classroom simulation explores this dynamic with students acting as one party's national legislators determined to advance the party's agenda. However, information suggests an opposing party has infiltrated the caucus meeting. Students only have three rounds to determine who the opposing party members are to save their own party's agenda for the upcoming congressional year. Afterward, a debriefing is held to go over the simulation. Particularly, students are made aware of the result that there were no opposing party members and the information given to them was inaccurate. Students must utilize important life skills and already-learned political knowledge in this simulation.
